it's best to have a sample to take to the vet, so they can determine what kinds, if any, parasites are present. They will tell you where to go form there. Otherwise liquid wormers to mix with canned food works great for both tape and round worms.

The best thing to do is take the cat to the vet so they can get a fresh sample of the feces to test. Once they test it they can tell you what worms (if any) it has and what to treat it with. Most over the counter dewormers only treat Roundworms and Hookworms. They usually dont treat whipworms, tapeworms, giardia, or coccidia. But if you take it to the vet they have the proper treatment for all of the internal parasites. Tapeworms are the ones that may not show up on the test because tapeworm eggs are very dense and the test involves the feces being mixed into a highly concentrated salt solution which forces the eggs to float to the top and stick to a microscope slide, so the tapeworm eggs dont always float to the top. Tapeworms are usually diagnosed because the owner has seen white rice looking things on the cats behind or in the litter. Tapeworms are contracted when the cat ingests a flea, so to prevent tapeworms you need to keep your cat on flea medicne and make sure the yard and house are flea free. Giardia is usually picked up from drinking out of puddles on the ground. If you have any more questions feel free to email me. Hope this helps a little

If you can see them, little rice like segments in the stool or rectum, it's probably tapeworm. Don't buy over the counter dewormers, they're for the wrong worm. Take the cat to the vet, if it's tapeworm they will give you 1 pill which will get rid of it. Very simple, and cheap.

You go to the vet (or the store) and get worm capsules in the pet section...I'd advise you to take the cat to the vet first to make sure they're worms and not something else...
