are you asking about kids or like people in your family or what?
How do you protect your kids? You stay with them as much as you can, and be around to watch them every minute and not let them out of your site. Helping them with homework is a good thing, and taking them to church.

Always treat your family like today is your last day with them, then do everything you can to make sure it is not. I lost my family unexpectedly and was forced to realize that sometimes you can't always protect them, but you can always love them!! (whether they are with you or not) Realize how lucky you are, and how much you obviously care about your family to even be able to ask such a question.

You make sure they know you're there for them....you try to provide a safe environment for them....and you do what's necessary to protect them as much as you can.
You just do what's necessary...it's pretty simple really.
