Is the United States weakening?

Question

The U.S. is still having problems with Iraq and Afghanistan which I can understand, and yet its losing its popularity with foreign nations and has shown not to have the strength to deal with the world's 'rogue nations' that it promised to deal with after September 11. What should the United States do to fix foreign relations and fulfill its military intentions?

Please serious answers, I don't hate the United States i'm a patriotic citizen of it (Unlike 75% of the 'british' or 'australian' people here)

Firstly to the idiot who thinks the US kicked our butts twice and saved us twice............Wrong, you helped us out twice, one of which was a major contribution although we did fight our own fight in WW2. In WW1 you couldnt be further from the truth as Britain was the main power fighting in the war and the main reason Germany Surrendered.

As for the 2 wars you beat us in please remember YOU didnt beat us once and YOU only won your independence because we were fighting the French closer to home aswell as fighting you over 3000 miles away. Not bad for a country the size of Florida. In 1812 the US begged for a truce and Britain fighting against the French still decided it was to expensive to fight against the US so agreed. No body officially won but as seen as the US claimed its best victory after the end of the war says all you need to know.

To answer your question I would say yes and no because from the outside ( Britain for some reason always gets US news, even the pointless stories like some dear on a frozen lake being blown by a helicopter? ) looking in the US has many problems at home and keeps causing more problems for itself abroad. Yes the US is a superpower but unlike all Superpowers before it it has rose to power very fast and this may cause it to fall just as fast. Attempts are being put in place to prevent this but you have to face the facts its inevitable. It happens to the best of us, its a case of how you deal with it and how you pick yourselves up from it. Some people belive the US wont accept this and may attempts to destroy its rivals with nuclear strikes in a last ditch effort to stay powerful.

As the saying goes, The bigger they are the harder they fall

Thats definately going to be the case with the US and we all wait to see how you deal with it.
That will show us whether or not you were a superpower or just a power

Yeah you beat the British in the Revolutionary War because the french won it for you.The War of 1812 was a victory for the Canadians and the British not the US.
The US didn't save the UK in both world wars,in fact the UK saved the US's a s s in LOADS of battles.Even though the UK were suffering they still managed to save your a s s and they are still saving your a s s today so get your facts right.

Of course we're weakening. For all intents and purposes, we no longer have a military. At least not a 'boots on the ground' military. We are so over-committed that we couldn't defend our interests in any meaningful way.

Our reputation in the world is diminished, as well as our economic standing. We are mortgaging our future by shipping jobs overseas, importing everything we buy, and our burgeoning consumer and government debt.

We are a much weaker nation than we were 10 years ago, and China is a much stronger one. If this continues, we will pass China on our way down the ladder as they are heading up, in the not too distant future.

Oh, and it's not the liberals that have put us here, either. They haven't been in control for 12 years.

well firstly i think we should get this Iraq Situation taken care of... we've been there alittle too long and there isnt really anything except eplosions and morter fire going on around there from what i understand.. all Iraq needs to do is get their men together and we need to train them the way we train our special forces. then have the best of the best train the other soldiers and so on and so on. then they can defend themselves good enough to get our troops out and worry about the real threats to our nation such as Korea... strange how we havent heard from them in awile.... in a few months we will probably hear about them again... it always seems to be that way. and the USA cant do anything about it because our fighting force is in Iraq. I agree that Saddam needed to be gotten rid of.. but there are so many other ways to do it...

yes, the us is weakening. the US army is a festering hole - sorry mate, but our boys keep bailing you out... most of the troops the uk has lost has been to american "friendly fire" incidents... when you're country and your government stops being so paranoid that it thinks the entire world is it's enemy (which is the way the world is turning) maybe it should rethink it's whole foreign affairs policy, and start making some serious apologies...
