No one is against immigrants going through the citizen process.
People are against sneaking accross the border like a thief, breaking our laws by entering and remaining in this country and then demanding things. That is not the citizenship process. That is the criminal process. Immigrants fill out the proper forms, wait their turn, get documented, pass screenings and usually come here to make a better life and assimilate and become one with the people who are here, all of whom had relatives who came here the right way. The criminals come here, remain here take and suck us try. Commit crimes in addition to the ones the committed by coming here to begin with and then have the nerve to call those of us who own this country Racists for insisting our laws, customs and country be respected.
No one is against the legal citizenship process.

People aren't upset about immigrants going through the process. A process indicates there is a starting and ending point. Illegals have done none of the "process"...they've just basicly said forget you.....I'm doing what I want and you can't stop me. Not everyone is given "citizenship" just because they want it. There is a screening process and a waiting period and a period of time in which you are expected to accomplish certain things and not commit crimes and even then it's not 100% certain. Now we have a "path to citizenship" and from what I gather it's not easy......but people are doing it because it's important enough to them to come here in the right and legal way. Then there's others who don't care about doing anything the right way. I'd be curious to know how many illegals ever actually tried to go about it the legal way. I know there's a certain amount that have over-stayed their visas. They need to go as well. It's a lie to say you're here just for a vacation, or student visa and then figure you don't have to leave or go through a process to make it permenant. There is no law that says we have to take every person that wants to come here. There isn't a nation in this world that just lets anyone come in and stay. Why should we be different?
We have the right and obligation to say NO to some people. I applaud all that go through the process legally.
I love the anaology about the car......you don't steal it and offer to pay for it after you get caught for stealing it. They have cars for sale but not everyone that wants one has the right to take it. Some people are told no. Rights don't mean entitlement to everything you want. With rights come responsibility and they don't want that either.

Well to the commenter before me... even if you come here on a visitors visa or a student and you over stay on it and you really want to become a citizen you still have to to through the immigration process... there is actually no way in JUST becomming a citizen if if you over stay... and to tell yall the honest truth its a LONG progess and time to go through it all to become a citizen... nothing easy about it...sometimes you get the feeling to just give up on the citizenship thing...but if you know u really wanna do the right thing you sit and wait patiently...

We are not against immigrants that are legally going though the citizenship process, i've seen very few saying anything about legal immigrants. Those should get a pat on the back, for doing it the right way. But what people are against is, illegal immigrants. Openly breaking our immigration laws.

I've never heard anyone say that, except for a couple of bigots that are ignorant, and don't really count towards the national opinion. Most of what I hear are people saying they don't want any more people to immigrate illeagally, that is, without the citizenship process.

I'm not against a LEGAL immigrant going through the process to become a citizen. I am against the ILLEGAL immigrants, who break our law by entering the country, hve no intention of becoming a citizen, and take our money and services back to their country so that they can lie better thantheir neighbors.

i don't think most people are against immigrants who have green card and are processing their citizenship. i believe they may be against the illegal folks who come here and try to hide.
i am an immigrant who came here 20 years ago and now i and my children have been citizens for many years. i don't think it has anything to do with us as we came here legitimately.
maybe it is the illegal aliens who they may be talking about. but our government is going to try to work it out that people from other countries may be able to get working visas here and probably after some time they can apply as immigrants.

I don't really understand it either. Since I was lucky enough to be born in this country (USA) I never had to go through the process of becoming a citizen. Is it a really long ordeal to go through? Seems to me the immigration process would "weed out" the undesirable and possibly criminal influence, but I don't know for sure. GREAT question, though.

being here illegally, having children then applying for citizenship is to like me stealing a car out of a dealership then, returning it months later willing to buy it? Does that make it right? What about the thousands who are legally waiting for their application to be a US citizen. Is it OK to cut in front of them? Deport illegals and you hear the cries two wrongs don't make a right. You do something that is illegal and the ones who DO obey the law has to apologize? Is that justice?
