Is Cheesecake considered a cake or a pie?

Martha Stewart actually addressed that one day when I happened to be watching her, and I believe she said it is a pie. She went through the whole ingredient thing. :)

There are many kinds of cakes, and pie is one of them (some cakes are pies but not all cakes are pies).
As we know, pies the ones that have a filling under the shell, over the shell, or both.
So, yes, cheesecake is a pie, so it's still a cake.
