I'm at about the 500 Kanji stage with the few courses I've been able to take and self study. Manuals tend to work for me. If I have a manual or instructions I read them 1st not as a last resort.

word to word process in Japanese is called War-Pro or or wa-pro as in word processor,,,;like Personal Computer as Pasocon,,,
about the manual,,there is a manual for every word processor when you purchase one, but is always in Japanese only, as most of the words are originally from Japan or written in Kanji.
as it is more complicated than computers,,you can take course or do it yourself and try to figure out every key,,
for Microsoft Word softwares,,go for Help..if there is any,,,
