Because rather than accepting the fact that they do evil, they use Satan as their scapegoat. Satan can only tempt, the person performs the evil. How many of those people think murderers should go free who say, "The devil made me do it?" Not many. So they could be hypocrites in that they excuse their wicked deeds by putting it on Satan, but hold others accountable rather than putting it on him. People are always more understanding towards the things they do that are wrong because they have reasons for it, but unforgiving to others who were just "being mean or heartless."

I believe that when man fell in the garden of Eden, by eating from the metaphorical Tree of the knowledge of Good & Evil, it was the point at which man became aware of himself (could see that certain behaviors were not good) Whereas before they were unaware, or unable to be held accountable , because they didn't know that they were doing wrong... The whole point was that we are not to behave like our animal/mammal evolutionary cousins. We are held accountable for the wrongs in our life, even when they seem right! You wouldn't look at a dog that goes around having sex with many other dogs & think adulturer or fornicator...1 of a mammals basic instint is to reproduce itself... But we know that having sex with many partners is wrong, if for no other reason than the consiquence of the spread of disease. If a human killed another humam they couldn't use there anilmal past as an excuse to escape punnishment. Most everyone knows right from wrong... It is the matter of freewill that we choose to do it or not, but it says that temptation comes from the devil/satan, because he doesn't want us to follow God... Evil is what it is, but temptation comes from satan.

Stephen Hawking once said that our "instincts are getting in the way of our intelligence." That right there is proof of our evolution, humans are the only species on the planet with the tool of thought. Which sometimes interfer with our more primal instincts. Which will win out, our intelligence or our instincts?

Scientist say those things because they do not believe in God and that they actually believe in scientific facts. I believe in God and Jesus Christ. I believe that Satan (devil) can do things to us by making sins. People who said they blame on the devil is those who are a believer, not science. We do make choices here on earth. God and Satan can't be seen by our eyes but they can do something to us in a way that we never imagine.
Hope that helps! I try my best.

People do not want to be held accountables for their actions, so they blame an unseen power that provoked them to do something.
it happened right after Adam and Eve ate the fruit and sinned. Eve "blamed" the serpent for deceiving her, which she should of blamed herself for listening to the lies that were being spoken. She believed, sinned, and then blamed the serpent for making her do it. she is held accountable for this act, but even the serpent was cursed for doing this to her.
The Bible does say that are struggles are not against flesh and blood, but against powers in high places. Meaning that there are demonic spiritual powers with high authority. But are struggles are also against human nature. our flesh wants to sin against God, but it doesn't help when Satan is right there adding more onto that struggle.
Satan blamed the creation of Adam for the reason why he fell, but the true reason is pride.

Because The devil originated sin, its in all our veins, but Jesus Christ went to the cross, so no one can blame the devil, each of us has a choice to keep sinning or be saved.
