I have studied and pagans did do that and it was sanctioned into the Church because it was so ingrained they couldn't get people to stop doing it. But never did figure out what it had to do with Jesus Christ birthday.

absolutly Nothing.

i can never figure out why people will..

celebrate the birth of a man, that was born in the late fall, in a desert.

by decorating an evergreen tree in the middle of the winter.

this is purely a Pagan tradition, however most of the Catholic Church follows Pagan traditions now.. and they thought that they were converting us....and now they follow a Triune God.

Evergreen trees were used in passion plays to represent the tree of life (for the part where Adam & Eve sinned). Since these plays were performed around Christmas in winter, they had to use evergreen trees since all of the others types of trees were dead. Passion plays were used by the early church to explain the gospel story to illerate pesants.

After the plays were over, people took them home, since they were no longer needed.

Nothing.

The Evergreen tree comes from a German Pagan celebration called "Weisteroft" (Sorry - spelling is really off there). Same for Santa Clause, the chimney, reindeers, elves etc. Its all added.

The Evergreen tree is really a pagan ritual that the Roman Catholic church incorporated into it teachings, like many other pagan rituals. Did you know Santa was once evil !!!!!

Nothing whatsoever. It merely symbolizes the continuation of life through the "death" of winter. And yes, its origins are pagan. Same with mistletoe and holly. However, since God made all these things, The symbolism behind them is not inappropriate.
