10 mgs are fine .take on an empty stomach with plenty of water. The more your stomach is full of food the more the absorption process occurs that limits the full effect of the valium (diazapam)
to the blood stream.taking body weight into effect above 185lbs might require 15 mgs, taken as 3 five mgs, or 1/2 additional to the 10 mg,quite easy to split since the tabs are scored. This by all accounts is a low dose and hardley dangerous.Do not mix w/ alcohol that can cause a precautionary result.By all accounts the best way to relax is take the pill just as you are getting on the plane. My advice is given to you not as a doctor by any means, just as a pharm rep who know his stuff. As always check w/ your M.D. before any drug comsumption.

My son has to take a B.E.A.R. test 2 a year and he is 2 1/2 and super hyper so for the tests he has to be asleep without sedatives. The doctor recomended that we do not let him sleep 6 hours before the test nor let him eat a heavy meal 4 hours before. Also limit liquids. When we get to the hospital we feed him and he falls right to sleep. I mean knocked out sleep you can do anything and he will not wake up. We also used this technique for a plane ride and it worked perfectly. I 'm too scared to use a sedative on my son I think he is still too little, yet I don't want him to ruin everyone elses plane ride.

Speak to your Dr. first. It may be o.k. if only taken once or twice. Taken orally you should take it about 45 minutes before your flight. If you have never taken this drug before beware you'll probably sleep for more than 4 hrs. DO NOT USE FOR A PROLONGED PERIOD AS IT IS HIGHLY ADDICTIVE. This drug belongs to the benzodiazepine family and is safe if only taken when needed but not on a regular basis. 10mg. is too much if you have never taken Valium/Diazepam before. ALSO REMEMBER DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL.

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!
1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.
2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.
The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.
After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net
Ohhh..and Good Luck!

I don't know if I would take valium. Try meditation or chew on caraway seeds. Listen to music - talk to people. The less chemicals the better. There are some good herbal teas to help with nerves too.

Your body weight is an important consideration here. Talk to your doctor before you pop in that valium.

You may want to talk with your doctor about Xanax (a small dose of 0.25) or try a sleeper like Lunesta 2mg.
