Wonder why it's always everybody else who must obey the rules but not the illegal aliens who broke a number of laws and walk free. One can only wonder why the Judge has evidence sealed.I would like to see these people who say jail them, go patrol the Border flashing a peace sign.See how fast they reach for their guns.

hey Writesome: do you still feel that way, since they were charged under the wrong law? do you feel that they should have gotten 11 and 12 year sentences, for PICKING UP BULLET CASINGS?
how about, the Border Patrol always picks up shell casings, so as not to litter up the desert? they didn't think they hit him with any bullets, so there was nothing to save evidence FOR.
not to mention, there were other agents there by that time, and none of THEM thought they were tampering with evidence either.
do you think that scum should be allowed to sue our government? cause he is.
do you think that scum should have gotten immunity, even though he was carrying almost 800 POUNDS of marijuana, to testify at the border agents' trails?

Most people do not think that, just a goofy prosecuting attorney that wanted to get his name in the limelight so that he may be able to run for another office someday. Elsewise, why would anyone do anything like that. They should have been reprimanded interdepartmentally, but, that was it. They did not violate any laws, they were enforcing them. Sign the petitions that are going around.

the agents broke the law and were convicted....
Illegal aliens should also be arrested and convicted..
all the LA gang bangers, GANGSTA's , red neck bubba poachers, drug runners, gun runners...etc..etc that break the law also should be arrested and convicted....They do have a right to appeal...

Our law enforcement personnel must be held to a higher standard. The drug runners shouldn't become citizens, but the border patrol agents Ramos and Compean tampered with evidence (by removing shell casings from the scene of the [unreported] crime).
Drug Smugglers Civil Rights? I could care less.
Tampering with evidence? That's bad.
Tampering with evidence as a member of the law enforcement community? They deserve to go to prison.
*update*
hey leafyqueen, nice to meet you. I'm going to address each of your (probably rhetorical) questions to the best of my ability.
I do feel the 11 and 12 year prison sentences were extreme, but that's the law for you, it's blind. That's why "Blind Justice" is hangin' around so many courthouses.
The bullet casings were evidence. The agents discharged their weapons, and failed to file a report to their supervisors. That's a crime, and removing the bullet casings with the intent to cover up a crime (not reporting discharging their firearms) is a crime itself.
Ramos and Compean shot at Aldrete 15 times as he attempted to flee. He was unarmed, and an eyewitness (a fellow U.S. Border Patrol Agent) did not draw his weapon as he did not see Aldrete as a threat. What they did was illegal according to the U.S. Border Patrol, the District Attorney's Office of West Texas, and a jury.
No, he shouldn't be allowed to sue our government, but he can. That sucks.
In a perfect world, he shouldn't have gotten immunity. Unfortunately, he was an essential witness. A witness against two guilty men.

I for one feel bad for the border patrol,,,they aren't paid enough to put up with such hatred and racism against them, I think I would end up in the psych ward if I was doing that job,,,you're right though,,,this country favors Mexican nationals over our men in uniform,,it's ridiculous

You are right about border patrol agents doing their job, but not about illegal immigrants. I half-agree with you.

Police officers can't go around shooting people in the *** just because someone tries to run away from them. If that was the case, we would not have great shows such as COPS on FOX.
What makes border patrols special?
