I came home from playing cards and was going downstairs into the basement, and as i turn on the lights, my brothers and their one friend yell at me "TURN OFF THE LIGHTS! TURN OFF THE LIGHTS!!" I didn't know that they were watching a movie. They kept yelling at me. I went and turned them off right away, but they kept yelling at me afterwards.

What did i do that was so wrong?

Strange behaviour! Not yours, your brothers'. Once you apologized and turned off the lights they should have been quiet.

It's what they may have been doing that could be questionable. Turning on the lights doesn't ruin a movie, and as you turned off the lights again, there would have been no reason to continue yelling at you, unless they wanted you out of the room. But that brings up the question, why did they want you to leave, and so urgently?

nothing honey. boys. depending on if the movie that they really enjoy and problem wanted try watch in the dark to give it it's theatery vibe. they may have even thought that you seeing the light is off would not plan to turn them on. and after the movie went off or took a commercial break they needed to complain so you know next time. don't worry my boyfriend and his buddies do that all the time. they'll understand and get over it.

You didn't do anything wrong.. Some brothers try to act like they run things in front of their friends, sounds like this is the case. If I were you I would have left the lights on and told them to turn it off their dang self..

Nothing, as you didn't know that they were watching a movie. You turned the lights back on , and possibly made a small apology, that should have ended it.

Tell them you're soooooooo sorry for not being psychic so you knew they were in there...

Tell them to put a sign on the basement door if they don't want any interruptions, or to let you know ahead of time.

Then forget about it, it's them being immature. If you can help them out preventing this in the future that's being nice but not a necessity; you could not know.

dont beat yourself up over something like that. if they specifically wanted the lights off, they should have either left a note saying "please do not turn on the lights" or they should have watched their movie in their own room. more than likely, it either just suprised them to see the light turn on, or depending on their ages, doing something that one only does in the dark. if you wanted to, you could have thrown something at them. or just turn them off then back on again. either way, dont worry bouts it

They were probably doing something or watching something that they did not want you to see.

You did not do anything wrong. They were just being jerks for yelling at you. They were big time jerks.

Whatever you do, don't apologize to them. If anything, they owe you an apology.

Try not to worry about it.

They might be doing things that they didn't want you to know or that they needed the lights to be off.

In any case, next time you go down the basement, try knocking the door or at least inform them of your arrival. & give them ample time before you make your entrance.
