I find that with very few exceptions (eg Daniel Amos, The 77s) if it weren't for the message, I wouldn't listen to much contemporary Christian music because it's just not very good. Who agrees with me? Why do you think it's that way?

I like Third Day and Rich Mullins is one of my favs. I also enjoy a lot of the artists listed here. It's not that they're bad, it's just that CCM doesn't seem to have much exceptionally good music. Like, where are the CCM counterparts to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Yes or Bob Dylan?

Depends on who you're talking about. I like Overflow, just based on the music. The Apoligetix (Sp) I like because they do some pretty funny parodies of famous songs. And, I like country songs with religious themes. But yeah, I really can't listen to KBNJ (our local CCM radio station). Most of the music is wishy washy at best.

I think there have been some noteworthy ones and you sound like Steve Camp, he made a list of like 100 problems he sees in the Christian music industry which is on his website perhaps called audienceofone

the Creation CD and also Buddy Davis form ww.answersingenesis.org is good

Some outstanding projects would include the CD
David: Ordinary Man Extraordinary God and also the CD Desiring God by Steve Camp

Michael Card has always had wonderful lyrics, I love the Scribling in the Sand DVD which is a sortof best of Michael Card and worth hearing

I enjoy Third Day and Casting Crowns and Phil Tomlin, allot of Rich Mullins, Steve Green, allot of Jars of Clay, particulary the CD Redemtion Songs
Joni Erickson Tada and others have some really good music

also some great musical theater projects such as www.bibleonstage.com such as Ruth or Noah

and many many good Vacation Bible School themes... Katty Hill being a good example of good creative writing for VBS thems and music

basically... allot of good songs but you goota be picky... and more than I listed here

I actually like alot of it. Most of it is better than the secular garbage.

There are some groups that do stink in my opinion though and some that say they are Christian and if you listen to the lyrics ...and well they just aren't very good too it seems.

Even the fair Christian stuff has go to be better than listening to the open sewer of secular music!

I do like Avalon, Casting Crowns, New Song, Todd Agnew, the Blind Boys of Alabama, Randy Travis, Gaithers etc. there is lots of good stuff!

Umm.... You haven't searched very well. :\

Kutless, dcTalk, Third Day, Michael Gungor, Thrice, Sanctus Real, Jars of Clay, MercyMe, Michael W. Smith, Casting Crowns, Chris Tomlin, David Crowder Band... Just to name a few great ones.

There are incredible talents out there.

There are 2 ways to tap into someones subconscience:

Music, and repetition.

Much of contemporary Christian music is just contemporary music with some mention of God. Most of it is absolute garbage. Some is great.
