To download the windows installer for GIMP go to this link... http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html the downloads for gimp on the gimp.org are on ftp servers and require the tar archiver.. the windows installer is a standard zip file recognized by win xp.

Read the installation notes first.
