No- you can be over 100 years old and still need to file. If you don't make a single cent then it's another story.

It isn't so much age driven as it is income driven. If at retirement your only source of income is social security, which is tax free in most cases, than you will not have taxable income. Technically then you would not need to file a return. That does not mean that the IRS won't send as notice to get clarrification as to why you didn't file.

Yeah, beginning the tax year AFTER they year that you die you no longer have to file returns.

If you have taxable income you have to file, regardless of your age.

Definitely not true. Requirements to file don't depend on age, they depend on your income. If you have income at a level where you're required to file, then you need to file.

No, however many older people do not meet filing requirements due to the type of income that they have (i.e. small pension and/or social security.)
