I agree, religion is a multi-billion dollar business. It's purpose changed from performing charity to making $ a LONG time ago

Great question. I personally have mixed emotions about this issue. If they truly are more concerned with marketing their organization than they are with teaching the truth, then I have a major problem with that. I visited a congregation this past Sunday that spent the entire service doing exactly that. I probably will not attend there again.
I also struggle with congregations that appear to be more into the entertainment business than the spiritual edification business.
But, where I waffle and hesitate to condemn is, in a lot of instances they are reaching out to people who might never have any contact with spirituality. If in these situations, some are brought closer to God, then that has to be a good thing.
Great question and may God allow all Christians to arrive at the best decisions based on their knowledge of the truth. Go in peace.

AMEN. Too many churches are liberal and won't actually preach the word of God. I think its sad, but I think they think if they actually give you some old fashioned Bible preaching, it will 'turn off' people. On the contrary, I go to an independent, fundamental Baptist church where you hear the word of God every Sunday. The church I had been going too, didn't even preach the path of salvation, that my friends is a liberal church.

Where I used to live there were two big churches with indoor gymnasiums, "information booths", and one was putting in an indoor swimming pool. One of them put on a multi-million dollar Fourth of July fireworks display. Seems the money could have been put to better uses (like helping the less fortunate). These were conservative churches (Southern Baptist and Assembly of God) and I think these big behemoths give Christianity a bad name.

it's probably one of the many reasons non-believers think Christians are hypocrites. I'm doing some research on the Word of Faith movement and it really sickens me. It seems very few churches preach Truth nowadays.

You're right. The "seeker sensitive" movement that was started about 15 years ago has given birth to many of the liberal churches we see today. Very unfortunate, indeed.

i stumble on wish understanding that there's a large difference interior the thoughts of God and the thoughts of the international. at the same time as each little thing is going incorrect I turn to God, i understand I have one position to bypass. i look on the bigger image, truly than what the international is doing now. also, one element that has helped me plenty is listening to good christian music. reminds me that there are others in this international that are of God and are dealing with the thoughts of the international like i'm.

revelations talks about different types of churches, those would be the dead ones, right? but the only ones who will get in trouble for that are the pastor -for he will make an account on eeveryone's behalf in his church- and the people in the church that knew better but never spoke up.

i agree these churches are doing this more and more today. that is one MAJOR reason people are so confused about christianity. its a shameful thing that these churches are doing (Jesus and the temple incident ring a bell?).
