DO NOT SKIP MEALS!!!!!! Your body will lose muscle.....and store fat. The more you eat the better.....just small portions, and low fat, med. carb. foods. 5meals a day. This will raise your metabolism.

The best combo. for fat reduction is alot of cardio>(anything that raises your heart rate) AND some strength training......muscle takes more energy (calories) to sustain.

Remember you didn't get heavy overnight....you will not get healthy overnight either. Consistent healthy habits will pay off.

Find a healthy sport/activity that you enjoy....one that will enable you to stay involved.......

Sweetie--the clue to losing weight is to eat enough that your body does NOT go into starvation mode. It's not so much WHAT you eat, but eating balanced meals, and eating *enough*!! It is also VERY important to eat breakfast because that starts your metabolism for the day and helps you to lose weight. Also, eat 6 small meals a day, and if you work out in the evening, eat a small meal (400-500 calories) within 45 minutes after working out and you will begin to see results!! Keep up that exercise and eat those veggies along with a balanced diet and you should see results soon. You don't have to deprive yourself...all those fad diets are bad for you. It's bad to give up any one thing, you should eat a little of everything, including fats, carbs, etc. If you like chocolate, go ahead and eat it, but only eat a piece or two instead of a whole bag. Moderation is the key!!!! Just remember that it took a while to put that weight on so it'll take a while for it to come off, so don't get discouraged. Stick with it! Good luck, you can do it!!! Hope this helps!

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Get started today!

alex, you don't sound too happy. first of all starving doesn't work - your body automatically goes into starvation mode and will not release any fat. it thinks you will need it as you are not eating!
rather simple explanation but it will do.
first of all let me tell you i speak from experience, i have been heavy for a long time and i have tried all different methods of losing weight.
so.....here is what works for me. breakfast - i never used to eat it, now i have a little something - whether it is a piece of fresh fruit like a banana or apple, or a small yoghurt. just get something into your tummy! now your metabolism knows you aren't starving it will work with you to lose weight. it took me a long time to get the hang of eating breakfast but since i have i feel a lot better and i have actually started to lose weight.
lunch - canned veggies arent' doing you any good at all. you could have soup and a sandwich, or you could have a salad and a piece of chicken and a piece of fruit.
dinner - you could have meat and potatoes and a veggie.
you need to watch your portions, and take into account any allergies you may have.
evening snack could be a couple of cookies, or rice krispie square, or some popcorn.
but please, whatever you do, don't be sad, don't get depressed over it. you are only 17 and your body changes so fast when you are in your teens.
exercise! don't forget to exercise!
i don't care if you choose this as best answer, your question touched my heart, if you care to, email me and maybe having someone to 'chat' with will help.
good luck alex - i know you can do this!
take good care
s.b.

You need to eat something more balanced. My favorite are the lean cuisine meals. They are approx. 270 to 380 calories a piece. You can one for each meal, plus fruit as your snacks and still remain about 1,000 calories a day.

Try a calorie Counter Watch. For example: My trail and error I know that if I keep my calories intake around 1,000 to 1,200 a day and burn 6,000 calories a day.. I can loose three to four pounds a week.

Everyone person's body is different so you need find what works for you by charting your progress.

You burn more calories by using the largest muscles in your body. That would be your legs. Any exercise that constantly has your legs moving will help you burn calories faster. Biking, Swimming, walking, stair climbing... You can do your work out inside a mall if you want to help keep you distracted while you are walking. Gives you something to look at and view..it will make the time fly by faster.

Stay off soda and anything with caffenie and carbination. Carbination will make your stomach bloated and it can actually take a week to deflat your stomach.

Anothe favortie of mine is the Activa yogert. Its a good healthy way to flush your intestines and your colon of unwanted debris and waste stuck in your system without using harsh fiber pills.

Look up colon cleansing. Most people who haven't done it ever can loose up to 5 to 10 pounds alone and just doing that treatment as well.

Most of all..Keep a schedule. Always have something planned to keep you busy...so long as your moving your burning good calories.

no no NO! That is still not eating enough and your body will still hold on to the fat to store it because that is still starving yourself. You HAVE TO eat breakfast, theres no question about it. That boosts your motabolism. Eat the most in the morning and a light dinner. But the best way is to eat every 3 hours because that speeds up your motabolism. Eat breakfast, snack at noon, lunch, snack, light dinner. Eating nothing but canned vegetables is not the way to go. You are still growing and you need protein and believe or not fat (eating the right kinds of fat will help you lose fat) and fruits as well. Stay away from these ingredients in many food: SUGAR, HYDROGENATED OILS (Trans fats), artificial ingredients and coloring, nitrates/nitrites and dont eat white bread! Eat only whole grain breads that say nothing but 100% whole wheat (or other grain) , honey, leven, water, (yeasts also), stay away from those spongy bleached breads with conditioners and all those long named ingredients. Get meat and milk (if you choose to eat it) without hormones. Also eat plenty of fruits and vegetables preferbly organic. If you do all this I swear you will lose weight.

Hey!

The BIGGEST piece of advice that I have is DO NOT CUT MEALS.

Here is why: When you are hungry, your body goes into "starvation mode." When this happens, your body stores all of the fat from the food you consume. So, instead of loosing weight, you are actually just adding MORE fat!

Go to your doctor, and have her determine what to do. In the meantime, why don't you get a membership to the Y or to Curves? Also, cut out fatty foods, and instead, replace them with yummy healthy snacks.

Apple slices, oranges, dried fruit, homemade granola, fresh veggies...They can be so good AND healthy!

Good luck, and if you need anything, email me at letXxXloose@yahoo.com

don't skip breakfast, it makes you more hungery later in the day and slows down your metabolism. also, make sure you do get some protein and not just vegetables, (although vegetables are great, lots of nutrients, low calories).

1200-1400 calories is a good weight loss diet (1 pound a week). Slow, but it won't come back as easily.

Yes, if you ate like that you should lose weight, but it will come back and you won't feel very good.

Eat good and exercise some.Try walking if the gym or nothing else suits you.At 160 your weight isnt really out of hand. You really need something for breakfast though.Try eating smaller meals but more meals like 3 meals and a healthy snack in between and drink plenty of water. This worked for me I drank a lot of water and really ate about the same and lost 40 pounds.

OK well first you should never starve your self or you will get anorexia. So you should eat right and exercise daily for your life time. Do push ups to get your muscles better and then do at least 15 sit ups. And finally if your school has a track run at least 3 laps. You must be a pretty girl. Never starve yourself.
