there are soo many tips for backward crossovers! whether or not it's left or right, sit back like your on a chair hold your arms one in front and one in back, but the one in the front, put it a little just a little to the side. DON'T MOVE YOUR ARMS , first because it will look silly and second it causes lack of balance. TRY and TRY and don't give up. It is fustrating sometimes but try to realize what makes you spin and go forward. If you can't, ask someone that is watching you such as a parent, friend, coach. Also, when you cross, try either lifting your foot off the ice or glide it across your leg if you know what i mean. DON"T GIVE UP and tha'ts what i'm saying. GOod Luck To you and have fun!

A really good way to help develop backwards crossovers is to practice over and over holding your outside edge in a turn.
For example, when skating forward through a clockwise turn, try going for as long as you can on only your right outside edge. Counter clockwise would be your left outside edge. When you feel good doing that, practice it going backward (clockwise would be your left outside edge, c-clockwise - right outside).
When you can hold your outside edge with confidence, backward crossovers become a lot easier.

Can you do backward swizzles yet? Actually, can you do forward swizzles yet? If you can, work on your backward swizzles. This will help you with the "going forward accidentally" part of the problem. These will be a good first step toward back crossovers.

make sure you can do backward swizzels (u mite call them lemons) that should help you with moving backwards and always make sure that your facing the inside of the circle and make sure your knees are bent and that the weight is over your skating foot that should stop you from spinning. Good Luck xox

If you know how to do them already, i don't reallly know, buut do you put your arms in the right position? One should be in front and the other should be mirroring it in the back. The way they are dies matter, so pretend like your making a circle with your corssovers. Your arms should be like hugging the circle. Also, make sure your side swizzle is big enough, but not huge. hope this helps!

Just try picking up your left (or right) and putting over the other foot while kinda pushing yourself backwards, as you get better you'll be able to keep your foot on the ice as you cross!

Well try to skate backwards then just bend your knees and cross over your other foot. You can also get a Private coach.

Like the person above me said, dont move your arms. The arms are important in securing you in place. When you move the arms you lose your edge. When you get good enough you wont even have to pick your skate up off the ice.
