This is the best advice that I heard a long time ago. Just be cordial. For example, if he says Good-morning, just smile back and say good morning. If he ask you a question, give him a polite answer, for example, "Have you seen Ginger?" You would say, " Well the last time I saw her she was headed up front." Just answer his questions politely. You do not have to get into a long conversation with him. I would speak only if spoken too, or if you have to relay something to him. This way, you are not being disrespectful or rude to him.

Depends on what state you live in. Here in Missouri, I found out it is a right to fire state. They can fire you if they don't like how you sneeze! Why aren't you talking to your boss and what kind of relationship do you have? Just remember, your boss has the upper hand and may come in one day in a really bad mood. Nothing you did or anything, but maybe he woke up on the wrong side of the bed, got into a fight with the spouse or the kids wouldn't mind. If you value your job, start talking.

Depends on the reason you aren't talking to your boss. If your job requires you to communicate with the boss, then yes, you can be. If you are expected to report to someone else, who will ultimately report to your boss, then no. But it seems a rather rude thing to do, unless there is a very good reason for not communicating.

If there is no necessity to talk to your boss, & your boss didn't talk to you, then not talking is fine.
However, if your boss talks to you, like he gives you an order or instruction, at least acknowledge him and carry out his order.
By not talking to your boss will not get you fired. However, if you do not perform the duties that he had delicated to you, then he's able to fire you.

All depends. Do you need to talk to your boss to do your job? My supervisor at this warehouse that i worked at during one summer thought i was stuck up because i didn't talk to anyone. I thought he was gonna can me or something. He never did. He now and then asked my mother(whom works at the warehouse) how i'm doing and if i want to come back. doesn't make sense to me...

I'm pretty sure you can be and they would call it, "In-subordination". (may have spelled that wrong)
