How long does it take to get your passport in Canada right now??

The normal process time is 10 working days if applying in person at a Passport Office, 20 working days if by mail, but right now they report delays of 5 to 20 working days.
That their official stand. But saw an interview on the news where and agent said they just finished the September applications and starting on the November ones, and that is nothing compared to the number received in January.

The last report I heard said around 8 weeks.
The person above me is mistaking "passport" (what you asked" for "visa" which is different. Passports do not take a year. :P
If you are thinking about applying for your passport, it is much easier to go to what is called a "Passport Receiving" agent. They can check all your paperwork to ensure it is in order before they send it in. You do not want to wait 8 weeks to find out you missed one signature and have it all start again.
If you do go to a Passport Office, please be polite. :( The worker in front of you would LOVE to hire hundreds more people to help out; but the decision is out of their hands. They also cannot compromise the reasons why we need passports, to protect the citizens of our counrty. Trust me...they will love you more if you are polite and smile. :)

it depends on the number of applicants n the efficiency of the department there.it takes about 30-40 days.
