I am on a budget of around $7000 for a used car. This is my first car and next year I am going to college. I know most of you are going to say, the car is going to get beat up alot because its at a school parking lot and all that BS, but the truth to the matter is that I am going to have an apartment and not a dorm. My apt. has a garage and I can walk to school. I just want it to get home on the weekend and holidays. I also want a nice car, not a old piece of ****. Sorry for my French.

People I am very sorry if I come on to you as a JackA**. I am just really excited to get a car. And as for not using my car alot. Trust me, I am going to use it. I am going to have a job and go out.

you know? If you don't use your car alot, it's going to rust away. No offense, but that's what I've been told. if you just park it somewhere, the oil and the car won't get circulated and it will not run as good. As for 7000, that's good enough to buy a 4 to 5 year old car! Good luck! I hope you get what you ask for!... And take care of that car! having a car is a big responsibility! Insurance, gas, and maintainance are all part of owning a car. Plus, you have to register it at the DMV. Here's a link that might help you....http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AiT4FUU0LDVXk9QJV_KRdfwcxgt.?qid=20070124175214AAMQAOU

by the way, I was going to buy a car (thinking of replacing my first car), and but we don't have enough money yet....but here's what my brother recommends:

Toyota Scion Xa <--that's a great car! It costs around 10k though, according to msrp.com. Plus, my bro knows a good deal about cars.
Honda Civic (that's 3 to 4 years old). you might be able to get a slightly used model. But if you don't want this, go for the toyota. They're good too!
Toyota Corrolla (again, a slightly used one that's around the same age as the Honda Civic) cuz they are in the same bracket.

Actually u can almost get a new car for that price but it is going to be very very slow and lack of luxury...But if u like performance u better buy Japanese car like Honda civic and then u can easily tune the engine to get more performance or if u need a convertible which seems like a good choice for me u can still have a choice of mx-5 or Nissan Toyota Mr-s..

You're probably looking at 2000-2004 model year cars.

Ford Focus
Mazda Protege
Honda Civic

Nissan Altima
Ford Taurus

Ford Crown Victoria - you can get these at police auctions cheap

An older model Volkswagen Cabrio (think of yourself with the top down, cruising the beaches for hotties) or whatever version of California-style you like best. I have to say, VW's are safe, reliable, affordable and still young looking..not like some older honda's.

find a hybrid-engine car, save tons of money on gas !!! and better for the environment.

Honda was the first one to market hybrid-engine cars, and in more recent years, they are more stylish, normal looking. Honda is great for durability, endurance, spaciousness inside, comfort, and have great some of the best engines on the market.

an older corolla or civic
something small, less concern about the exterior look than the mechanical condition
in fact, finding either of those in a hail damage sale (area dependant) would be ideal
should be low milage
with that cash you can doo well

i own a repair shop, and i recommend a good Toyota corolla or a Nissan sentra ,their good cars and don't give a lot of problems at all and wont break you up in repair bills either but either one of those would be a good dependable choice for a used car ,good luck i hope this help,s.
