I don't believe in god, but I'll play.
Given how horribly designed this world is, and what a brutal place it is, I'd have to say it was the work of a guy.

God created MAN in HIS image. Women (Eve to be exact) was created later from Adams rib.
Adam looked sad, he was lonely, he wanted someone to spend time with. God looked upon Adam and knew his pain. He came to Adam and told him he would create the most beautiful, understanding, thoughtful, loving and intelligent companion imaginable. All God wanted in exchange would be Adams left leg.
Adam thought for a moment then asked God, "What can I get for a rib?"

God is spirit and neither male nor female. Men and women together are created in God's image and together are a reflection of God.

It never said that we're made in God's PHYSICAL image. I'd say we resemble God spiritually, but physically? Last time I checked, I don't glow, even though I live near nuclear plants.

God is whatever you want Him or Her to be. If God were a Girl, our culture would probably be more peaceful, so maybe we need to delete all references to "Him" and replace them with "Her."
