Yeah, I stayed for a weekend with them many years ago, I've heard they've not changed much since (despite a name change).
Nice people, a bit intense, far too serious, services a tad scary (bit like a cattle market at times with all the tongues), a bit too literal on their interpretation of scripture and they make a mean chocolate cake!
Seriously, they're based not far from me. They're more or less orthodox but a bit puritanical for my tastes. They do like to control their members big time though.

Well, if you are referring to www.jesus.org.uk they are a christian evangelical group that emphasizes the charismatic qualities of their christianity... The Jesus Army is a radical offshoot of the Christian Pentecostal movement, envisioned in the 1970s by an individual named Noel Stanton. This cult formed a parent company named "House of Goodness" owning various food shops. The company managed to make millions in the 80s by recruiting mostly miscreants such as drifters, homeless and ex-prisoners and paying them miserably low wages. The cult members can be easily recognized by their badges, shaved heads and army fatigues. All earnings go into a common purse, friendship outside the cult is looked down upon, and marriages must be approved by the Army leaders.
Memorable quotes from the 'Store' section of the website where you can purchase Jesus Army merchandise:
"Wear a red cross to show you're a Christian believer. Choose a red fluorescent wood or plastic cross if you're a cool dude (they're all the rage!)"
Or our favorite:
Generation J Music CD - Sixteen stunning tracks, including "We're wild and we're Christian"
"Wild and Christian? Wearing my Jesus T-shirts to work at the post office"
Now... if you are talking about the left wing radical abortion right activist group of Jesus army which is NOT affiliated with the above, you are talking about a over zealous terrorostically inclined group of mainly men that are zealots and very dangerous people.
In my opinion BOTH organizations are dangerous

my husband and his mates picked one of them up the other day. he was hi ch hiking in the UK. My husband hates any religious talk so he asked him not to mention it. All the lads reckoned the hi ch hiker was a nomad but a really decent guy. Funny thing though i had prayed that God would keep them safe on their journey so i reckon he was sent by God.
