I currently don't buy dresses (except the dress-up ones that don't leave the house) for either of my girls. If we get skirts, they have to be skorts (skirts with shorts built in). I haven't let my kindergarten daughter go to school wearing a skirt yet because she hasn't quite figured out how to sit, and given that at that age, they're more interested in playing and being rambunctious, well, what's the point of putting them in something which they're likely to forget their "manners" in anyway?

My daughter can wear dresses but only around the house. She knows how to keep her legs closed and sit like a lady but if I can not be there to remind if needed then she can't wear them. There are too many perverts out there now. I agree. They need to teach their children modesty. They also need to worry for their child's safety.

Oooh don't get me started on this one! My step daughter came home from her mothers (she lives with me) with a belly piercing at age 13. I was mortified. She looked like a tramp, and I was mad. Needless to say she thought it was the bees knees, until it grew out. She now has a nasty red scar on her belly button. I cannot fathom why anyone would want their teen daughter to do this either, it looks nice on young adult women over 16 say, but under that I think is awful.

it all depends on how the parents view this. Its better to wear shorts underneath and teach them to sit like a lady. they can learn bad manners later, but they wont forget the good manners(it will be bothering them in the back of their minds)

I agree. There's nothing wrong with teaching your daughter to be a respectable young lady. Just make sure you go about it in a way that doesn't embarrass your daughter too badly.

My daughter is only 2 but I would certainly not let her do that when shes older. If she wants to wear a skirt, it will be with leggings or shorts, and she will sit like a lady, or not be allowed to wear one until she learns how. i hate seeing little girls dressed like MTV wanna-bees. or like those bratz dolls. i hate those things. even the bratz 'babies' dress like hookers.
My uncle and his wife always taught their children to be modest. Their philosophy is that if you knowingly conduct yourself or dress in a manner that would cause the opposite sex to lust after you or think unclean thoughts, then you are just as guilty of the sin as they are. I agree that we have to be very careful. Our children are a reflection on us, and we dont want to make our daughters even more vulnerable to creeps, or let them think its ok to use their appearance to influence boys.

No but my oldest is only 10, however even 10 year olds these days are dressing poorly. I will never let my daughter dress like trash. Or better yet my husband won't.
