i want more voltage out of my sub preamp. i kno there is a little device you can connect to your rca lead from your radio to your amp that greatly increases your preamp voltage. what are these called and where can i get them?

That's actually not a good idea as it make too easy to overdrive the amps capabilities which can result in clipping. Clipping will destroy subwoofers. The gain on an amp must match the volts RMS coming from the head unit.

You want more power, get a bigger amp and sub(s).

The real question here would be

why do you need more preamp voltage?

Installing anything between the head unit and the amp is probably going to negatively effect the signal.

Are your subs not hitting hard enough or something? whatever the case is, i don't think you'd be able to find ANYONE (at least, that knows what they're talking about) that would recommend getting whatever it is that you're looking for.

Its called a "line driver" not a cap...that was a bad answer.

You shouldn't need it by the way in reference to the above answer by Sparky.

Stiffening capacitors or Caps for short. I can get you one if you need one.
