'm 13 years old. I go to a new school, and I have many stresses.
I have been absent about 8 days, in total from school. (I started school in September.) Now, two of my teachers said, after I asked them if its okay they're like "You're cutting it pretty close, but try nto to miss any more days of school." I missed so much because I've been REALLY sick. And I asked the counselar and all that, I asked him "What's the limit on how many days you can be absent?" He like "There really isn't a limit, just don't miss too many. Obviously, if you miss too many days we're going to have to send you a letter through the mail, but if you're just missing school to sleep in" and I cut him off when he said that, I'm like "Oh no, my mom would NEVER let me do that" He's like "I know she wouldn't, but if you're missing school because you really are sick, then there is really nothing we can do." I'm like, so I won't miss any more days, he's like "Don't worry, try not to miss any more days.u should be fine

I'm in eighth grade.
Also, what's going to happen?
I told my counser, "I won't miss any more days, I don't want a letter through the mail" He's like "Has this happened to you before?" "I'm like only in second grade, because I had the flu, I was really sick". He's like ok.

What's going to happen? It's okay right?!
PLEASE HELP ME! The school isn't going to fail me or anything right? (I do all the work!)

They're not going to fail me are they? ANything bad going to happen? I WON'T miss any more days.

PLEASE HELP ME! I'm the kind of girl that worries TOO MUCH!

Your best bet is to bring in papers that prove that you were sick. If you saw a doctor or nurse, bring in paperwork from them. If you didn't see a doctor or nurse, have your mother write a letter to the school. Have her include the dates that you were sick and what illness you had. This is important, because it is wrong for the school to punish you for being absent if you were sick. But be sure you make up the work that you missed.

You are not the only child to have the issue you have....and why so much worry and stress over something that you handled very well? I could see if you ignored the issue and didn't care---then I would say you have something to worry about. Just as a question---did you see a doctor about what ails you? lots of kids get ill because as you age , your body chemistry changes---simple tests can help. Let's say that you do get sick and miss some more days and they decide you didn't complete the required time in school for the year--all they can do is offer summer school or repeat the year---so what??? It is not the end of the world. You won't lose friends--in school you need to study--not socialize--see them after school and then it doesn't matter what grade your in. stress is not the way to handle this--relax---slow down---think some happier thoughts, don't worry about something you cannot control...but I am sure that your adult approach helped. ...the man said you should be OK. Now for stress relief, what do you do for fun-??-whatever it is--go out and do it---13 is too young to be all upset over nothing. You'll do fine. Please learn that during your entire life, problems will always pop up--take that in stride and don't get upset about things---you can see where it doesn't help---be cool and just handle the situation as best as you can---walk tall, be proud, and smile. Good luck to you

Chill. The only reason I can see why you might be worried is if you don't want a letter sent to you mom/dad cause your actually skipping school and they haven't got a clue about it. If your really that sick have your parent take you to see a doctor. I take my kids when they are sick and missing days. My son is in Kindergarten and has missed 6 or 7 days. He has had, pink eye, flu (twice), nose bleeds, fevers and I have doctor excuses for each of these. Keeps a paper trail in case I get a letter from the school system. Your parents might have to prove you were really sick. Doctor excuses help emensely when there are questions by the school or CPS. I've got friends who had the CPS after them cause their kids missed WAY too many days! Get tested for allergies. It's a lot like flu symptoms. Good luck.

Our schools only allow ten days absence in a semester unless covered by a note from the doctor.

It sounds to me like you are not going to school because you find it hard to meet and make new friends. That isn't going to help. Yes, it's hard, but the best thing for you to do is take it one step at a time.

Try to find something that you like about the new school and focus on it.

Don't worry so much about how the others "look" at you. Try to be the best you you can be. You will begin to get to know the students in your classes and friendships will follow.

Skipping classes is not the answer. Not only will you stress about the new situation, but now you have added stress because of missed course work. And there is the possibility of your parents finding out you've been missing school.

Hang it there. It will get better.

I'm sorry to hear you are so worried about this. If you genuinely sick, and have a doctor's note to prove it, you can miss as many days of school as you need to miss. Your health is much more important than your attendance record. You are obviously an intelligent girl, so you won't have any trouble keeping up with the work. So you don't need to worry any more. If you are STILL concerned, you should talk this over with your mother.
