maybe you want to get away from the whole "war" thing?

or maybe it's not the same, so it doesn't matter?

or maybe you think it's practice?

or something else entirely... games like halo... gears of war... and others...

(and I'm sure not all do... but I'm looking for more of an "on average" answer)

Military people differ in their habbies just as much as everyone else. Some, like me, are addicted to games, mine right now is Battlefield 2142. Some play tetris still while others do not play any. Becasue most military people are extoverts in personality, probably a high percentage of the guys 35 and younger do play, and we usually do like war games, but not exclusivley.

Of course we do.

But not all of us, some want to escape from our reality of war.

Many of the guys who join the military are of a certain mindset. We like the challenge and tactics and strategies that are involved in both games and war.

No, the games are not like real war. The closest to real war are the simulators that the military has designed. Those are awsome, and you cant afford them, lol.

A game that closely simulated real war would not be much fun. Once you get shot, you are out. Even if you are only wounded, you are out of action. If you are still fighting, it means that the medics cant get you out, and you are probably going to die. No game can truly simulate the high that you get when you are getting shot at, the shock when you realize that an RPG just hit your machine gunner, and now YOU have to get on the same machine gun and push the pieces of his body off so you can shoot it and maybe survive.

We are trained to be killers, but we dont like it when innocents get hurt. We do our best to avoid that.

Honestly, when we kill an insurgent, most of us rejoice. We have done our duty, and we have done a good job.

First to Malcom the first response, you need some help. Many people in the military play video games. A large percentage of people who play WoW are military. Some like the first person shooters and other don't. I am in the military and I know alot of people who play Halo but they just see it as a game and play for fun.

Yes. The military uses war game simulators for training purposes which are somewhat different from the games that civilians can get. The miltary gets all the kool toys.

I think they play war video games, as they read war comic books.
I've never been in the military, but I've read stuff where they say what they do to pass their spare time.
