There are several reasons for sore throat which only a physician and appropriate tests can find the cause....is it tonsillitis, strep infection, dripping sinusitis..just to name a few. However, a good thing to try is a mixture of 2 parts honey to one part apple cider vinegar. Take a sip every hour, gargle and swallow it. You can even swab your throat with this mixture. I have broken up pus pockets on the tonsils with this method in a 24 hour period. It is a great "fix-all" home remedy until you can see a doctor. Sometimes it does the trick and you don't need to use the doctor's help. Also, keep the throat well hydrated with hot tea, soups (especially chicken) and lemon drinks. If your sinuses are acting up, buy some OTC saline nasal spray and use as often as needed to relieve the sinus pressure and open the nasal passages. Use a humidifier or simmer a shallow pan of water if you don't have one. Take a steamy shower. Hold a hot, wet washcloth over the face and breathe in the moist air. Feel better soon.

I've had a sore throat the past few days as well. I used the salt water method as well as throat lozenges and saline. I also read that cayenne pepper in water works. (I tried once but it is a little bit spicy on the tongue afterwards.) I also have been using a humidifier in my bedroom at night. Saline spray helps your nasal passages and since your throat is connected, it would probably help it too.

I also read a mixture of apple cider vinegar, lemon, honey and cayenne with boiling water may help. I've heard of gargling with 3% hydrogen peroxide diluted 50% with water but I don't know how that would taste....

If your sore throat continues to get worse and you develop white patches on your throat....go to your doctor...it may be Strep. Good luck! Hopefully it's just a passing virus like mine was!

Bee Royal Energy Tea! It contains bee pollen, green tea and freeze dried raw honey!! Works great for a sore throat and will also give you a big energy boost that lasts a long time. Great stuff and actually tastes good. The only place you I know of to get it is at beeroyalproducts.com. You get like 25 bags for like 10 or 11 bucks.

Standard procedure is to gargle with warm water w/ a pinch of salt stirred in. The salt kills germs. Drink tea as hot as you can stand it with a spoonful of honey stirred in it. The honey sooths the throat. Stay away from milk and all milk products. They cause phlegm. Sucrets and that numbing throat spray are good to use, too.

Gaggle with salt water? Ha! That's hilarious. I think he means "gargle." It tastes horrible but works.

I always suck on gummi bears - the gelatin in the coats my throat and helps a lot. Also sucking on a lemon or eating honey helps. Do not talk - it'll make it worse. And don't whisper! That'll make it MUCH worse!

Green tea with lemon and honey helps mine sometimes.
But for temporary relief a small shot of tequila helps numb it.
