Your question confuses me. The Church was instituted by Jesus Christ Himself upon Peter's confession. Later it was consummated on the day of Pentecost. This occurred while the Messiah (Jesus) was on this earth.

the churches started after jesus left. If you mean the israelites, then that was the synagogue. They believed he was going to come and free them from all oppressors and lead them into a golden age. They are still waiting.

There were none. There were polytheistic groups of people, and they involve more than one god and goddess in their belief system. To only have one god is an abomination.
