Jumpin Johnny
Johnnycomelately
you do not always have to use there name for a cute or funny nick-name if is just between you and him consider pumpkin
or studmuffin, or sugar or I call my wife honey-bunny or angel, and I'm pumpkin-bunny or teddy bear I'm not sure if you asking for a cute name you only call him when alone together or out with friends but here some suggestions hope it helps try some on him and see what he is okay with and let him know you are fine with him thinking of one for you.

Pet names are derived, not created. For instance..
An ex bf I had, once we got into a fight and I screamed "YOU DOOKIE HEAD!" Ok it was silly but afterward we were like, dookiehead?? I called him Duke (for short) for years after that.
My best girl-friend in high school, her mom called her husband "Honaay" instead of just saying, Honey or Hon she would laaag it out like a Brooklyn accent and say HONaaaaaaaaay. For years I called my husband Honaaay just because we thought it was funny.
Another ex bf was a firefighter so I called him Sparky for years.
My new guy, he's such a schmuck, we don't kid around about much so I just call him by his name. Or jerkoff..
Just see what develops.

Texting lets you control the tone and establish what kind of conversation you want to have. Learn here https://tr.im/l9RIB
This is probably the most important part. With texting, you can stop and think about what you want to say to your ex at each step of the way. Instead of reacting emotionally, you can take your time, figure out the right thing to say (I’ll give you most of it), and be strategic with your ex without saying something that you’ll regret.

You could call him "Big John", like that old song, but people might take it the wrong way, lol.
I call my husband "Bunny" and my daughter calls her husband "Kitten"...strangely, he does not object to it!
