The club I work at insists that its a law that only 2 ounces of liquor or 2 beers, or one beer and a one ounce shot, can be served to a person at a time, yet other clubs i go to in texas, allows me to walk off with 3 or more drinks at a time. Does anyone know if its a law? Or maybe just a club policy where I work?

When I worked in a bar in Texas (years ago) we had the same policy. I'm not sure if it was a club policy or a state law; I just know everyone was aware of it and the waitresses were sure to clear the empty bottles & glasses quickly. Check the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission website, maybe?

I spent 2 weeks last summer in TX, the bartender was giving my friend another drink before the one she was drinking was 1/2 gone. So my guess is that it's just that clubs policy.

I don't know about state law but I know some towns in Texas (and other parts of the country) are "dry" so they have a maximum amount of alcohol that you are allowed to purchase in a business establishment per. day
