The way it shows up is:

Activecoll
Acct: ****06
Metrocall

I looked for metrocall and they are out of business. I've searched for Activecoll online and there is nothing. Can anyone help me get in contact with this company? I need to pay this thing off for a securities license.

At the end of the credit report there should be a list of all of the creditors. If you can't find out how to pay them, write the bureau reporting this and ask them to research this for you or take the charge off of your credit. You should hear something back fast. Their good about research. The bureau's addresses should also be in the back of the credit report. Also Activecoll could be translated as Active Collection. The company name may be Metrocall and if their out of business order credit correction or an RMCR depending on how bad your credit is messed up (from the credit bureau reporting the issue). Good luck!

I did a little research on Metrocall, and I don't think they are a collection agency. I think they are some sort of a phone or wireless company.

The "activecoll" you see on your credit report simply means that it's in "active collections". It's not a company name. Your account with Metrocall is mostlikely in a charge-off status which the credit bureaus look as being similar to a collection account.

Do you have any recollection of a phone bill or wireless plan that you were late on, or didn't pay for? Here are some listings for Metrocall: http://yellowpages.superpages.com/listings.jsp?SRC=&STYPE=S&PG=L&R=N&L=&C=&N=metrocall&T=&S=&search=Find+It

Same thing happened to me last year. I saw something on my credit report that I didn't know what it was for. The credit bureau had an option for me to dispute parts of the report and to give a reason (used the web that checks all 3 agencies..i think it was annualcreditreport.com or something like that). I simply disputed it, and told them I didnt know what it was, and they emailed me about 2 months later and said they have lifted it from my report because it was a mistake. I checked it out, and it was gone! Hope thats all it is for you! :)

Elise is correct. My Experian and Equifax reports have creditor contact information listed next to each account. The TransUnion report lists them all at the end. In any case, the credit bureau has to have contact information in order to verify disputed items.

Try writing a letter to the credit company, and explain your situation. If it is out of business, there is no way to pay it, so do the next best thing and mitigate your situation.

deliver a letter disputing the advice on your credit checklist to the business enterprise that presented you that suggestion. The credit reporting business enterprise will in turn touch the series business enterprise. If there is not any reaction from the series business enterprise the advice would be bumped off out of your credit checklist. on the different hand, if the series business enterprise respond, you would be the 1st to comprehend and can have their touch suggestion.

The credit department it went to should have a number for it, if its TRW for example, you need to call them or notify them by mail, letting them know this problem you are having because you want to pay it off. They will help you out to tell you how to go about paying this account off...Dont give up, you need to not worry!
