I haven't colored my hair and I am not on any medication, and it is not in just one area either. It seems that when I brush my hair that there is a lot more in the brush than it should be. What is the normal strand loss in one day usually?

Also, I am not pregnant or breastfeeding. My youngest is 19 months old and I stopped bf her about a year ago, so I figured that my horomones have gone back to normal by now.

To member Ghostlady:
I used to have issues with thyroid problems but it balanced out and has not come up again. I was last tested in February and October 2006 and they both came back normal. It was a good point though...thanks.

Are you getting enough high quality oil in your diet? If you are trying to lose the baby weight, you still need a couple of servings of FAT in your diet, and certain vitamins to keep your hair and skin nice.
Don't crash diet! That's not good for you, and if you're all worn out, it won't be good for your child either. Exercise is great, but watch out for crash diets. That's not good.
Also, get a minimum of 48 ounces of water per day, not counting other liquids. Both the water and oil in your diet will also help your joints not hurt, which can sometimes be a problem for new moms. Sweetie, take care of yourself.
P. S. Just take one daily vitamin that contains Vitamin A. Don't overdose on Vitamin A, but a daily supplement that contains it will help with both hair and skin.

All kinds of things can make you lose your hair. Stress, a change in diet, a change in shampoo or other hair care products, all of these can cause more hair loss. It is possible that you're pulling too hard when you brush, but if you brush your hair every day, you will seem to lose less hair. Pulling on knots can rip out hair.

There are a couple things but you should look into having your thyroid levels checked. Hypothyroidism can cause hair loss, weight gain, and fatigue.
