If I were to purchase the upgrade version of Vista (the $150 software that upgrades XP or 2000) is it possible to cheat the system? I have a bad copy of XP, and I can get 2k, If I were to buy the legit upgrade copy of Vista from the store, could I just upgrade from that?

I don't want to do a clean install, I mean get the upgrade version of Vista, it REQUIRES either XP or 2000 to be previously installed. If I use a pirate copy of Windows, can I use the upgrade version? I know XP has their Genuine Advantage Tool, but 2000 (to my knowledge) doesn't check if Windows is genuine. If it's not possible from XP is it possible from 2000 for this reason?
