Hi Ducky,
Okay, let's see if we can clear this up. Go back to Genesis 1:1 in your Bible. Between the first verse and the second verse, something major occurred in the third Heaven. God had created all of the angels. Lucifer was the major angel at the time and was very beautiful. You might say he became very proud of his position and jealous too. He decided he wanted to be The one on the throne, so to speak. So, he plotted and was able to get one third of the other angels on his side, so that he could be the ruler. Well, God, the Creator was not about to allow Lucifer to get away with this, so God "kicked" Lucifer and one third of the angels out of Heaven. They fell to earth, where Lucifer became the ruler over that formless, dark void. But, God decided to take that formless and dark void and create something beautiful with it. Now, read on about what God did in the 6 days of creation, when He created man, Adam and then made Adam a mate, Eve, and put them in a garden called Eden. Continue to read the rest of Genesis and you will see how Adam and Eve was tempted by the evil one, who used to be called Lucifer. After the fall of Adam and Eve into temptation by lucifer, then lucifer became known as the serpent, the evil one, satan, the devil, beelzebub. These are many names for the Father of all lies, and evil. He is the one who created evilness in the world that God created. Now, here we are many thousands of years later, and satan is still responsible for all of the evilness that goes on today. Why?? Because he is the ruler of this world. God gave us all the right to choose whether we will do good or do evil. That is why He sent His son Jesus to earth; to be our Lord and Savior and to deliver us from this evil one. But, we have to make this choice as to whether we will serve the evil one or serve God. Hell exists because hell was created for the devil and his angels, not for the people that God created. God does NOT send us to hell. We send ourselves because of the choices that we make. Now, for those of you who do not believe any of this, or think that there may or may not be some truth to this regarding evil versus good or the devil versus God, it really does not matter. Just because you can't see, feel, hear, or taste any of this does not mean it does not exist as I have presented it to you. You can't see the wind blow, but it is there just the same.
May God bless you and I hope that this helps you.

that is an truly thrilling question.i'm a Christian, and that i often ask your self various an same issues. in accordance to the Bible, the devil is a fallen angel ( you would possibly want to already recognize this, sorry if so) meaning he become once cool with God and then drama went down and he were given thrown out of heaven. So i'm presuming the evil that he does on earth is merely to spite God. that's exceptionally unnecessary because contained sooner or later God's going to win, yet effective feels like the devil's doing a strong pastime making a huge mess of the international in the present day eh? also, i imagine the devil's important purpose is merely to counteract each and every thing God. notwithstanding causing human beings to develop into un-believers is probable area of this, i imagine he also messes with believers merely as a lot, if no extra. i recognize one component, when we die i imagine we are going to recognize a lot extra about all of this then we do now. wish this facilitates, strong success searching solutions : )

There's a fairly easy (and scientifically valid) explanation for the existence of evil: Mental Illness. Specifically, Personality Disorders, the most common being Antisocial Personality Disorder. Nothing spiritual or supernatural about it, just screwed up brain chemistry and poor upbringing. We'll never be rid of evil, because mental illnesses don't respond to having Jesus thrown at them. There are antisocials in the seats of power, but they were raised in rich households and had fewer stressors (like poverty and hunger) which contribute to acting out behavior. But look at the way the powerful treat the rest of us: How many pension funds have been stolen by business owners? Look at Enron. Look at Nixon: Does anyone believe he was normal? Hello... can you say Paranoid Personality Disorder?
Sorry, dude: Evil will always be around, because mental illnesses will always be around. Just go in your closet and pray (Matt. 6:5-6).

You see ducky, what’s funny and sad at the same time is this:…. some will attempt to convince themselves evil is just perception. Or that everybody has the propensity to be good within them. Or that your question is just a Buzz-kill because you’re trying to force your morality upon them. Or that "Evil" is a societal construct ( I.e.…I’m just a product of society, therefore I have an excuse for being a mass murder, pedophile, rapist etc…) or further meaning “Do as thou wilt” (don’t wonder where that came from).

They don’t want to accept that we are all just pond scum waiting for release. But that release will be different, dependant upon whom we serve. And if they did accept the fact the Satan is real, they would just blame everything on him. You know “the devil made me do it!

But we are all sinners… None are good, no not one! And that there’s only one way out of this cesspool. You see, this world is the only heaven the humanist will ever know. Conversely, this world is the only hell we’ll ever know. And all we can do is plant the seed and pray it takes root.

Evil does not nly relate to the devil and as for people beliving that the devil controlled them into doing something wrong...it's bull you can't blame another for something that you've done wrong and the origin did not only come about due to the devil for someone who knows so much about this you should know that...

Evil is not the devil.
It is the result of free will and man chooses to be evil.

Actually most of the wars that happen are due to either greed or religion. either someone always wants they cant have, (like Bush who wants all the oil) or wants to wipe out those who dont accept their beliefs (like the catholic church wiped out the cathars in france - 1209-39)

its not how many rather than who.
its simple .by asking about devil is like asking about god
the first requires the existance of the second
believers do think there is hell.
atheists dont
agnostics say "could be but also might not be"

Here's my .02.

There's no way to know if there are other dieties in this life or another. We can speculate until we're "red" in the face, but hard evidence is going to be tough to come by. Believe what you want. I suspect either at some point we'll find out or we won't. I'm not going to let it bother me one way or the other.

Just so you know, you LOSE points for asking questions.

Other than that... if you don't believe in God you don't believe in the devil.

If there is no origin of good there is no origin of bad. People are people so why should it be You and I should get along so awfully

I do not believe in hell, demons or satan. Good and evil are two halves of the same entity - the yin and yang. You cannot have one without the other and they are learned behaviors. We learn the behaviors from society and its laws, through traditions handed from families which may or may not included myths and fables.
