I am the Lord thy God, thou shalt have no other god before me

Wouldn't it have been clearer otherwise to say "I am the only God?" .

Actually what I get from that is that the Hebrews should worship no Gods above Jehovah. It doesn't say there are no other God(s) or even imply such.

it does not say there are no other gods, just no other gods before him. He is the one God Almighty. In the old testament, The Word or Christ is referred to as a mighty god, a lesser form of a God, that receives it power an existence from an Almighty God.

The Apostle Paul refers to Satan as a god of this world, using the same Greek spelling for "[a] god" as John did in referring to The Word in John 1.

There are many with the powers of "[a] god", but only one God Almighty.

The Creator of all worlds and creatures is the One True God. But various groups of people create barriers to give the impression that there is one god for each group! Moreover, primitive people worship many gods out of imagination and lack of knowledge. Now, the mature humanity can seek for the Divine Unity through the Holy Books freely accessible on the Internet.

Sure. There were many many gods in the bible. Pick up the bible and you will read about how people worshiped other gods. The Egyptians were famous for it. But ALL these gods were false gods and had NO powers. But there is only one true God whose name is Jehovah, and him and him alone should we worship.

Why all the thumbs down people. Don't you read the bible?

MATT 22:34 After the Pharisees heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they came together in one group. 35 And one of them, versed in the Law, asked, testing him: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 He said to him: “‘You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind.’ 38 This is the greatest and first commandment.

JEHOVAH IS IN THE BIBLE OVER 7000 TIMES

I think he means idolatry. The gods of wood and stone are no gods at all, but people worship them anyway.
