That is ridiculous, you can buy a cask of wine these days for about $8 why would you try to make it out of dettol and grape juice (which would have to cost at least $6) when you can spend $8 get the real thing. I think whoever posted this info is trying to trick stupid people into try it. (and probably succeeding)

Ethanol and all wood type alcohols are potential injurous, basically its meths. Pastis and Absynthe for example are either licenced or banned here in France, both were developed some 150 years ago for cheap alcohol and the problems only realised about 100 years ago. A famous painter went blind thru drinking it here in France.
The current recipies do not use the original wood alcohol though, hence the licences.

I don't think Dettol contains alcohol at all. There are different types of alcohol-ethyl alcohol which is drinkable and methyl or wood alcohol(methanol) which is extremely poisonous. There are others too.I wouldn't touch anything that was not intended for drinking. When alcohol is distilled, the condensing temperature of methanol is nearly the same as ethanol which is why you hear of people who distil their own going blind or dying.

Never, ever do this! Dettol is found in products such as Lysol or other antiseptics and is not to be taken internally.

alcohol in not healthy anyway, I think you want to be healthy, and just don't worry about what you have just mentioned.
not eveything you read on the websites is 100% right.

It's impossible to make high proof alcohol without distilling it. You may have created some toxic substances in the process-I doubt the concentration of those is very high either, but these are the chances you take when you experiment.

Make your own wine, it's safe to drink. I did it for 3 years. If you do it as a hobbies go for it but it's less bother and even cheaper to buy one from the shop.

Hair-lacquer & lime was an old favourite in Glasgow during the 50s. Paint stripper & bleach was Vivs favourite in the Young Ones. Hey, you only live once, give it a bash...! At best you will only go blind.
