People are NOT sensitive to their surroundings. BUT if you are a true tree hugger, then I pity you for not realizing that trees are a renewable resource. As are many other resources.

I have a friend in KY that owns 6 square miles of forrest. (That's a little over 4000 acres) He also owns a sawmill. He is in his 80's now, but purchased the land in his early 20's. So far he has not cut all the trees from his 20's, and the cuttings made in his 20's are mature enough to cut today!

The next time you turn on your lights (or candles or lantern), start your car, go to the grocery store, buy clothes, watch TV, listen to the radio, etc. THINK about how these things operate or were made. You will see that fossil fuels were used to somehow make these things work or operate.

Now I'm not criticizing you or the way you think. Actually I wish we all thought about these things. I have, and I'm trying to do something about it. I use solar cells, batteries, and propane gas for my power. NOW laugh! All of these take energy to make! I have dealt myself a hand of Aces and Eights!

I really think we should increase the price of oil, and reinvest the money to increase our supply of renewable energy from natural, products.

Conoco Oil company has issued new pumps to sell grain alcohol. (Made from corn.) That is great, but lots of people don't realize that using ethanol could void their car warranty. Or even disolve some parts internal. You better check it out first, before using.

What ever happened to nuclear power? It would/will/does work! If we could find employees that didn't sleep on the job, it would work much safer. I know I'll get critized for that, but I've seen it happen!

Why do people litter? To me that is very disrespectful! That gum wrapper, cigarette butt, kleenex, candy wrapper, drink can or bottle, etc. Why? They are lazy and think just a little won't hurt. I've been to countries that could care less about litter. Driving down their highways is like driving through a garbage dump. If we didn't pay taxes to have people picking up trash from our streets or highways, it would look the same!

One last point. When the weather turns bad, and the roads are salted for our safety. Where does the salt go? Eventually, the road sides may become salt flats! State and Federal pollution?

OK, I'll get off my soap box. But keep up the good work. Nature needs more like you, but get yourself educated about ALL natural resources. I'm definately still learning...

The reasons are not as simple as you say. Some do it because of necessity. For example pleople deplore the deforestation of the Amazon on the other hand the same activity gives employment to a few. People have to do many things to feed their families so unless you walked 5 years in the shoes of the displaced you must not blame but help as much as you can.

Because they don't care. Some are totally oblivious to the problems while others just don't think about the future. Mostly the people with a black hole heart that suck every good thing out of life are like that.
I love nature though. If I could buy a lake with no one around for miles, i would buy it.

Personally, I think a lot of it has to with how people were raised. A lot of people are greedy, selfish and only care about themselves which makes them lack respect for others and things around them. Also, many people are uneducated about the consequences of their actions.

people in the past make it our job to make everything better. the more we're growing the more smarter we are. people who litter and people who are disrespecting nature are the people who want to die faster. mcdonolds is making our problem even worse. We have a lot of bad things going on in our earth, global warming, pollution, ect. Mcdonolds is making farmers cut down their tree's [which gives us oxygen] and planting grass for the cows to eat, after they eat they sell them to mcdonolds for tons of money. We should boy cott mcdonolds for a while. Well to answer your question.... people who disrespect mother nature or just lazy people... polluting our earth..

remember to not throw your batteries aways in the trashcan!
remember to pick up litter and save the trees!

a lot of people are too busy to care, some people just don't know the facts like if we keep destroying at the rate we are now we won't have anything left in x amount of years, and a lot of people think even if they start changing their ways there are still other people who could care less

b/c things need to get done in order to insure survival. Im not saying throwing trash out the car window is a part of that..but cutting down trees and raising cattle to kill them is NECESSARY in order for the survival (and pleasurable expierience) of life.

"Only after the last tree has been cut down.
Only after the last river has been poisoned.
Only after the last fish has been caught.
Only then will you find that money cannot be eaten."
