do you trust them? they have major side effects!

Everything has major side effects. People have died from water intoxication. The only thing separating a medication from a poison is dose.

That is why this class of drugs should only be prescribed by a licensed physician who is aware of the side effects and keeps close tabs on the patient to take appropriate measure should they occur. As with all medicines, a risk-benefit analysis must be done before prescribing the medication. In the case of prescribing drugs for depression the the risk of the disease (major depression) must be weighed against the risk of the side effects of the medication *and* the risks of the side effects nust be weighed against non-treatment *and* all risks must be weighed against the potential benefit of the drug, which is often significant.

You can trust them, but as with anything you have to make sure the one you are prescribed doesn't conflict with other meds you are on. The doctor should check that, but they are super busy so it never hurts to ask the pharmacist.

It took me 4 to find one that works, those that didn't were a little unpleasant (like one stimulated my appetite) but not life threatening. One they got the right choice, I felt like my old shelf. It's great.

Good Luck..

I do. Ive been on them for several years. It some times takes awhile to find the right ones, but once your doctor and you do, it like being born again.

As with any meds you have to weigh the benefits & risks. Antidepressants are a G*dsend for many people.
