Some estimate over 1,000 North American protestant groups. You could probably at least double that when you include the world and open it up to the non-protestant Christians.

It really depends on how you define Christianity. Protestant religions don't consider the Catholics as Christian and vice-versa. Of course the Mormans don't consider any other faith to be valid even amongst the Protestants and among their own branches. (There are three Mormonesque branches) Jehova's Witnesses consider all other people to be Pagans so according to them there is only one branch. So I do not think that a Christian can answer that question honestly. However, I am not a Christian so I can base my answer on facts. By defining Christian Belief to mean all faiths that use the Old AND New Testaments as the core of their belief systems regardless of whatever other doctrines they may include, there are 7823 different known sects of Christianity in the United States. If you include only the ones that believe that Jesus is the ONLY Son of God that number drops to under 5000. Now if you further narrow it to those who believe that you can only get into Heaven through the Salvation of Jesus that narrows it to 98. And if you further narrow it down to those who believe that the Bible is the Literal Truth and should be taken at face value word for word and that there are no alegories, fables or stories used to make a point, then it narrows it down to my mother. (Don't get me wrong, I love my mother very much I just disagree with her interpretations of Biblical cannons.)

Jesus is the vine and the redeemed are His branches.
Probably close to a thousand, but that's just a guess.

As many people as there are claiming to be Christians, because they all have different interpretations of what they read or heard, and they all have it wrong.

Counting the "Church of the American God and Jesus" (yes there is one) probably about 10,000. And like the factions of Islam, each of them is the one and only true religion.

One. "For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ" (1 Corinthians 12:12).
