Well, if you don't have the self confidence to be with the person you want to be with, sounds like you're the nerd.
You need to stop being childish now and decide to be with the guy you like. This one is really a no brainer.
Once you start dating, buy him a shirt he'll look hot in. Let him know you'd like pickout out his outfits for him, and let him know what he looks hot in.
Turn the nerdy guy into the hottest guy in school. HS only lasts 4 years, maybe you already met the guy you could be with for the rest of your life. Give the nerdy guy a chance....
I was nerdy in HS, afterwards I joined the Marines, and now I do a little of that mixed martial arts fighting and am a lean 200 solid pounds. I'm also a math major in college, who remodels houses.

There is nothing wrong with liking someone nerdy, being nerdy, or liking someone that other people you know don't think are "cool."
You got to know this guy and you dig him for who he is. THAT is what is important and that is what really matters. If you worry all day about what others think, you will never be happy. I say, go for it, girl! :)
As far as him being weird when you talk to him -- I bet you realize it's because it makes him nervous! If you let him know right out that you like him like that, abd give him a BIG hug, he eventually won't be so nervous anymore.
I am now in my 20s, and from personal experience I can tell you that the guys who were "nerdy" in high school can grow up into the sexiest, funniest, and most intelligent men.
Good luck!

I say go for the nerd if you like him. He could possibly be the best boyfriend you've ever had because people arnt nice to him, he would really appreciate you. And to hell with what other people think..tell them he's an amazing person and that they should give him a chance..they are the ones missing out. My boyfriend was a straight A student in highschool, and did homework during breaks...and hes the most amazing lover I've ever had in my entire life. Im all about the dorks now

If he really is a nerd, then somebody might say something, but if you are a strong and independent girl then you won't care what they say. It could be a great relationship. He probably acts weird sometimes because he is little nervous around you. This happens to a lot of guys, especially in their teenage years. It's just that some of them are better at hiding it than others. If a girl (perhaps you) gives him a chance, it would probably boost his confidence.

If you are worried about what your friends are going to say, then by all means leave him alone, as this type of concern is both shallow and shows weakness in your character (sorry if it sounds harsh). Stand up and be who you want to be, not what you "think" others want you to be. You like him? Go for it. If you are worried about what others think, then do the guy a favor and let him be because you will only hurt him later if the poll of public opinion turns against him and you will be unwilling to stand by him.

If you like him....then go for it.
Watch the movie...13 going on 30....
We as people tend to think what other think is so important....but will the others make us happy and live our lives....NOPE>>>
Be yourself and do what makes you happy.
Trust me....having a nerd for a boyfriend that is a true friend is a lot better then having a boyfriend that's not really your friend...make sense?
Best wishes

I know as a young person, peer pressure and what others think about you tends to be a lot more important that in will be later in life...however if you like this guy, then why worry about what others think? Are they living your life or are you living it?
Do what's best for you...if you want to be with someone you like, then don't miss out on that because others may think he's odd or nerdy...if he was dangerous that'd be another issue but why not show people that you care more about doing what you want to do, than what others will think about it?

The guys that seem "Nerdy" to you now are probably the ones that will be most desirable as you get older.
Also, if you are 'popular' he will almost instantly become 'cool' if you start dating him and don't act ashamed of it. If you say 'Hell yeah I'm dating him,. he rocks" then people will believe you. Also, the 'nerdy" guys will probaly treat you better.

just because he is nerdy doesn't mean you should go out with him. who cares what other people think cause if you live like that you will miss out on a lot of stuff. maybe you can help the guy not be so nerdy.

Don't rush him, and just let the thought sit for a while. No one on the Internet (like me) is gonna give you personal advice unless they know you.
Generally, who do you like more? Hanging with your friends, or dating this guy (theoretically)? If you think that your friends won't care, who really gives a thought on what others think? Just be confident, and good luck!
