I had liked this guy and we started talking again and he never mentioned his g/f and I finally got the guts to tell him I liked him. He said he wished he liked me a couple months ago but he was dating someone but he really likeed me still. I apologized right away and said maybe we shouldnt talk out of respect for her. I miss him,. but did I do the wrong thing by cutting him off for now?

Not necessarily. By allowing the communciation to be open with each other, you may find yourself in some bad situations. Just as long as he knows you will be there for him if/when things go bad in the relationship he is in right now. At the same time, don't just sit around waiting for them to break up. Enjoy life, keep your options open.

No, you're fine. I don't think you should have cut ties off completely though. You can still keep a casual friendship, but NOTHING serious. Make sure it's like a simple hi or nod when you see him. If things don't go well for him and his girlfriend, let him know you're still there for him. But now he knows that you like him and he likes you. Should anything happen, it'll be you he turns to.

OK- no one got hurt, he can look his gf in the eye, and you backed off. Better still, he is aware that there is interest there and if he ever breaks up, he'll remember that.
So go on, live your life, and stay open to all possibilities.
You did the right thing, but you have to stop focusing on it and turn your attention elsewhere.
