Jika-tabi are the Japanese boots that have the split-toe. I hear they are really comfortable and allow you greater grip.

I don't really want to order them off the internet. Someone suggested martial arts stores. How much do they cost? Does anyone have a pair, and if you do are they comfortable?

They are comfortable, but lack much arch support. The grip is why Japanese high-iron guys always wear them. They shouldn't be expensive, I paid about 3000 yen for a pair when I lived in Japan. They were invented in about 1930, so the idea that actual ninja ever wore them is false.
