Corn does not take months to digest. If it does not break down in the GI tract it passes out as fiber. Pop corn gives you fiber and is as easily digested as kernel corn. It' s the toppings on both types that give the calories and trans fats. You can use butter salts to cut back on fats and a little butter goes a long way.

Months? I don't think so. You digest and gather nutrients from all parts except the tough outer covering of the kernel. It stays intact and passes through. Popcorn, on the other hand, has been heated to a degree where it makes the outer covering brittle so that it crushes into little pieces when we chew it and is unrecognizable in the rest of the indigestible fiber we eat.

Very little of corn actually digests but you do get some nutritional value out of it. The rest is eliminated, guess how.
