Several possible issues depending on the type of burner:
1. Laser is indeed scratched or dirty. Need to clean with air or a kit, and run burner analysis tests.
2. CDs are not compatible with burner.
3. Are trying to burn at a faster rate then burner allows.
4. You actually have a bad batch of CDs or inserting CD on the wrong side.
5. Burning software is throwing false error.
Best bet is number 1 or 4. I've actually had at one point a whole case of poorly coated cheapo cds that my burner thought were defective. Have also had a damaged laser of which I found easier to replace the entire unit for $20.00 cdn then go through the hassle of cleaning it. In the future use Nero instead of WMP as its more robust and has better error handling but still very user friendly.

i'm uncertain approximately doing it with a DVD/CD burner yet walmart sells diverse issues to do away with scratches some are instruction manual ( you ought to do all the artwork your self) others are electric I had one you place the CD on the pad, spray it close it and swap the guard till at last it is going all the way around as quickly as, then you definitely swap the guard the different direction returned till at last it is going all the way around one time, then get rid of it and use the gentle textile that got here with it to get any left over wetness off and all the scratches have been long gone Ive used it for music Cd's i burned, offered, video clips, video games

When I had this problem it was because I had purchase a CD that was a different brand and it wouldn't read it right. It gave me that same message. Someone suggested I get a different brand and it worked for me. If that doesn't work for you then you should try cleaning the burner.

Most likely the laser in the burner itself is dirty or freaking out. I've never used one buy you could try one of those drive cleaning kits. Or perhaps some of that sprayable air thats at office stores and GENTLY blow out the drive.

I'm no expert, but my guess is that you need to clean the CD-Drive. It probably has dirt on the lens. You can find cleaning kits any place with electronics --I know I've seen them at Wal-Mart.

Hi. Your laser lens may have dust on it. You can either try to blow it off with Dri-Air or use a disk with cleaning fibers on it.
