I'm a pantheist, so my God is everything, and since everything exists, so does my God. It's just semantics. Universe, God; Tomato, "Toe-mah-toe."

For many people that is what they mean.
However, the devil also "believes" that there is God. THe devil knows Him well, but he will not get any benefits from God. So, what is the good of just "knowing "that there is a God?
When Christians speak of "belief" in God, it means "trust". This is not what the devil has nor many people who say they "believe in God" mean.
James 2:18-19
19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that-and shudder.
(from New International Version)

Usually when people say that they believe in GOD you tend to believe that they have a personal relationship with him. But I think many times we fail to believe that there are many people that just know that there is a god. So we as Christians shouldn't make any assumptions. When I say I believe in GOD, I'm usually saying that I have a have a personal relationship with GOD. and Ithink that many times that is what people are saying. Or at least I hope so.

As far as I concern, I do not simply believe when people ask me to believe, or believe due to peer's pressure, and forget about telling me I must believe because I'm raised to it, because this is one and the only universal truth.
Every religion have they own teaching and so call 'truth', so may I ask by the end of the day, who have the real truth then?
Spiritual development is not simply just believe for the sake of believe, it need to take up alot of energies to study, reasearch and contemplation, it invovle alot of analyse, challenging the teaching by asking lots of question, then really internalise the teaching, thus transform oneself.
It take a lot of hard work, pain and encouragement to 'peel out' ourselves layer by layer to look at our own mind, and believe me, it not easy as we may think.

Obviously, it's only belief as there is no way to prove the existence of god. It's like when I say I believe in equality, it doesn't necessarily mean that equality exists, but it does mean it's something I would like to exist, or something I think is important.

It's all about faith. If a person believes in God just because they've been told, they have faith enough to believe that much is true. Strong faith builds firm belief and we hold on to hope of that which is to come.

i BELIEVE there is a god... but i dont have physical proof... so i do accept the fact that i MIGHT be wrong... and thats okay. it doesnt stop me from believing what i do.
bottom line is NONE of us knows for sure... so all we can do is develop our own ideas and respect one another's, because you never know... you might be wrong and they might be right.
