There is a place called Hollywood Park in Crestwood, IL it's a good place to eat & have fun for kids. They have video games & rides, wall (rock) climbing, miniature golf & a variety of things. You can also book a Birthday Party or if you want take your own cake. The have pizza & sandwiches & beverages. I don't know where you live but check to see if you can find a location near you. Have Fun & Happy Birthday to the 11 yr old.

If you want to go downtown, definately Navy Pier. Its quite touristy but great for kids. There is a buger type place but its all the other stuff to do that will make the difference. I've seen marionettes, magicians.... free in the atrium. There is a childrens interactive museum. If the weather is decent, they have the ferris wheel and merry-go-round. I just think it's different than the typical arcade type places if you are looking to get them away from the video games for a change. Call, there may be something else going on that I didn't mention.

I, too, vote for Dave and Busters for kids that age. The games are fun and the food is really good too. There is a variety of games for every age, adults included. They range from simple - like skeeball to complex computer games. I haven't had anything on the menu that wasn't good. Have fun!

The Rain Forest Cafe is special for kids because of all the animals and stuff. I went on a field trip with my 8yr niece and all the children had a blast!
