A wide question, many will answer incorrectly. The best time to go to sleep is when the body is tired. That time will differ depending on lifestyle, location, occupation, and so on. The best time for a Disc Jockey to go to sleep would be early in the morning when others are going to work. The best time for a Fire Fighter to sleep is when he has an opportunity, for he is on call 24 hours a day. The best time for a doctor to sleep is much like the Fireman, unless he is a general practitioner, your family doctor for instance.
So without a doubt the best time for anyone to go to sleep is when their body requires it. What is more important than when is how long the body needs sleep. most doctors say between 6 and 8 hours; longer if your younger; around the ages of infancy to 10 years, 10 to 12 hours; 11 to 15years of age, 8 to 10 hours. as we grow older and the work load grows, as well we get fewer hours.

Humans are considered diurnal, meaning they can sleep during the day or the night. Genetics, personal preference, and lifestyle all affect how you sleep and how much sleep you need. For instance, my job of 10 hour days plus travel time, plus preparation time and relaxation time basically takes up 12 hours of every workday. Thus I have 12 more hours to do chores and tasks that are needed around the house, run errands, and do basic things like eat, shower, and sleep. Here again, some folks need more, others dont need as much, but the agreed basic requirement is at least 6 hours a night, preferably 8, while some folks need 10 or even more. As to "when" you should go to bed, well, if you are needing parents to tell you to go to bed, it is probably best to listen to them... after all, they do have more years of experience than you. Good luck.

So that when the sun starts to rise, it has been about 7 hours. Once the sun starts rising, you probably have one more hour before it's bright enough to wake you... So, in total, you will get 8 hours of sleep.
You want to time it with the day-night cycle. Nature intended for the sunlight to wake you up. On weekends, try sleeping with your blinds/curtains open and without an alarm set. See when you naturally wake up because of the light. Then, set the alarm for that time.

Everyone has a different schedule, but it is recommended that one goes to sleep and wakes up the same time every day. I believe 8 hours of sleep is a general rule of thumb, but some people do need more or less.

It depends on each invidual person, and what they do.
What time do you go to school or work ? Midnight would be stupid if you had to get up at 5 or 6 - but 10 or slightly later, might work for you if you get up at 7. Everyone is different, and we all have different sleep needs.
I get by just fine on 6-7 hours, but my boyfriend needs 9 .... we're just different people and do different levels of work..

immediately after getting into the bed. but that is an ideal. probably married to some annoying, arrogant creep that requires attention. yuk. then you go to sleep. if that woke you up take some ambian, drink three beers, and a valium then try again. nyquil is bad for your heart but it helps. add three or four meltonin pills to that and then a couple more beers then get some sleep.
