Death is inevitable. The thief on the cross knew when his would occur, but we can not predict our own. After his death, the crucified criminal went to live in paradise with Jesus. Some of us will also live eternally in God's presence. But others will experience everlasting torment, forever separated from Him.
If we receive Jesus as our Savior, our penalty for sin is paid. We are adopted into God's family, and Heaven is our eternal home. If we reject Jesus, we remain alienated from the Lord and under condemnation for our sin. We are destined to experience eternal judgment. God won't accept any of man's excuses because there is no acceptable defense for unbelief. (Acts 4:12)
Become part of God's family today. Acknowledge your sinfulness, and express your faith in these words:
"God, I have sinned against You. (Romans 3:23) I've followed my own way and refused to give You the right to rule in my life. (Romans 3:10-12) I recognize I am separated from You and cannot rescue myself. I do believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son. I accept the truth of the Scriptures? that His death on the cross paid my sin-debt in full. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) And I ask You to forgive me of my sins. (1 John 1:9) By faith, I receive You, Lord Jesus, as my personal Savior from this moment on."
If you just spoke those words to God, then, like the thief on the cross, you have received salvation? a gift of God's grace. The heavenly Father welcomes every person who comes to Him through His Son, regardless of background, age, or current situation. Through Jesus, the right to enter paradise is yours!

The sorry truth is that nobody really knows. Many people BELIEVE, but there is no actual evidence or proof of any kind of afterlife. I can tell you all day long that I read in one book or another about a supreme being or great spiritual leader but that does not make it the truth. ALL religions (with one exception) are based of belief and faith. You basically have to say "If this is true, then that is true. And if that is true then the other thing is true also." But the word "if" means you have to accept something without any supporting evidence. That is what we call Faith. So it is really up to you to answer that question for yourself. Look within yourself and figure out what you believe and have faith in. Not what others have told you to believe but what your life's experiences have told you to be true.
Good luck. Let me know what you figure out. I would be most interested in knowing.

It really is unknown. In different cultures, depending on where they originated, there are different rituals for the dead-body. All the faiths have one or the other philosophy for the followers to believe in after-life. All these philosophies were spoken about and written by greatest people on earth - not to fool us but to encourage us to improve the livelihood of fellow beings. I am a believer to the core.
I do follow the rituals - of my religion - for that is the path shown to us by those great sages, should I call them (my fellow believers would call them Lord, God, Prophets). We often call those great people as God - because they had extraordinary character (like Christ, Buddha or Mohamed). Their teachings are not incorrect, God exists and everything and everyone is God and has God within. Most religions I understand mention this essence.
It is eventually a service to those on earth - all living beings that we tend to serve. We donate stuff to the poor and the needy, build hospitals and orphanages and retirement homes and educational centers in the memory of our lost beloveds. Everything is eventually a service to the needy, or may be in the service of God himself.
There is one Super Natural being, perhaps, that controls all we mortals cannot. Hell and Heaven, God and Demon, Soul and He are sops given to us by those pure and great mortals who lived amongst us for the mere improvement of others around.
In those days, and even now for the masses, that was the only way to encourage people to be selfless and benevolent.

In all probability, no.
But I have also good news for you! There is a very high probability that the life BEFORE death is absolutely real!
And that leads me to the idea that everyone should take care for his or her life in THIS world.

You already KNOW the answer to that. You are asking in order to find a reason not to believe what you know.
