Do you think it is fair that a couple who cannot have kids but are willing to adopt through DCF. DCF has let them go through the whole process (classes and case studies) and when they are one of the families chosen for a placement. They are turned down due to a few factors: One got arrested 5 years ago for a mistake. One is in the Navy and they live in the state they are adopting from but have no family due to being in the Navy. So they have no family support. Do you think this is fair puting them through all this saying that they should have no problem (with the above) adopting a child?

The arrest was a minor incendent of stealing just a dumb mistake and never arrested before that or after.

I was first tempted to say, "NO! That's not fair". But then I started to wonder...what was the mistake you were arrested for 5 years ago?

If it was jaywalking, then no, it's not fair.

If it was assault or armed robbery, then yes, I think it is fair.

I do not think this is fair. No one is perfect! They have placed children in homes where there were no arrests and the children were abused and neglected. I even know of one that the child died! That was five yrs ago! If it was something that was ongoing like being arrested lots of times in the past I would understand that. People learn from their mistakes and move on. That doesn't mean they aren't loving people. I think there should be a group out there to oppose this kind of treatment. People who should not be able to have kids have them all the time!

If the arrest was cleared as a mistake then yes I think it is totally unfair. Those kids have NO family support NOW. At least with you they would have a set of parents who want them.

Depending on what your "mistake" was , then no I don't think it's fair. I would ask for an appeal on their decision.
