There is a really nice TV I want and it's $1300 at the store (tweeter) but $999 on Amazon with free shipping. In the event of a problem... is it a bad idea to buy off Amazon? Should I stick with the local store? I'm worried I'll regret the purchase if there's a problem with the TV down the line.

After contacting the two stores that sell the TV locally, neither will price match with Amazon.
If there are problems.. and I don't splurge on the super expensive extended warrantee that the stores offer... is there any difference now since both Amazon and the store's purchase would only come with the manufacturers warrantee?

At that price range I'd rather buy from the store, such as Costco or Best Buy because like you said, you can take it back for any reason. But here is what you can do... print out the Amazon.com price and take it to Best Buy. They will match their price. Also, if the price drops within the next 60 days, they will refund you the difference.

I bet you can get closer to Amazon's price and still buy local. I would print out Amazons price and take it to the store. Tell them you want to buy locally and ask them if they can do anything to help justify a higher price. I don't feel comfortable buying anything for more than a couple of hundred in this category. There are too many potential problems.

i shop at amazon all the time i never had a problem if you dont like what you got you can return it within 30 days if it is still in new condition but you will have to pay for the shipping... however if the item was damaged or for whatever reason it was their fault that you are returning it then they will pay for shipping. i never bought something that expensive but i dont think i would hesitate

Amazon rocks! I buy all my electronics from them -- yes even expensive items. They have a really good return policy so you can always return it if you're not satisfied. Plus, they have the best prices around.
